About Me

Hello and welcome to the Best of Sea Jane. I was raised on the west coast of Canada in British Columbia.  As a youngster I travelled with my family to my parent's home town of Leeds, England. This is where it all started for me. At 17 during a family visit, I ventured fearlessly (foolishly?) to London and traveled by overnight ferry and bus to Paris. I was awestruck and I didn't look back. Over the years I’ve spent time in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Egypt, Israel, Scotland, Italy, France, Greece, the US, and others. I've surfed, sailed, searched, rescued, approached, adventure raced, and have always held a keen sense of adventure. 

I’ve spent over 25 years working in health technology, a challenging and ever changing environment, and I’ve spent over 10 years providing care to a parent with dementia. Although not a professional health care provider, I've received over 250 hours of dementia education, researched and tested many products, and have applied different care techniques that have made life easier through the many stages of dementia.  Living on an island means I've spent hundreds of hours on the ocean exploring and volunteering with the coastguard auxiliary in a search and rescue capacity.  With the Cascadia Subduction Zone just west of me, this means I'm always updating my emergency plan and supply inventory so my family is safe in any situation.
